MANITOBA INVITED 27 SKILLED WORKERS OVERSEAS STREAM CANDIDATES UNDER THE MPNP
On April 17, 2025, the Government of Manitoba conducted Draw #243 under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), issuing 27 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) through the Skilled Worker Overseas (SWO) stream. This round targeted individuals under the Strategic Recruitment Initiative, a pathway designed to attract international talent who possess skills aligned with Manitoba's labour market needs and who have established ties to the province through previous visits, employment experience, or invitations from Manitoba employers or community partners.
The minimum required score was 621 points, representing a significant 100-point drop from the previous SWO draw. This substantial decrease indicates Manitoba’s responsiveness to current labour shortages and its intent to attract a wider pool of qualified candidates from abroad. Lowering the score threshold may also reflect an effort to increase the province's immigration intake to support economic growth in key sectors such as healthcare, construction, and manufacturing.
To date, 692 candidates have received invitations through the MPNP in 2025. Among them, 152 applicants declared a valid Express Entry profile number and job seeker validation code, suggesting a strong alignment between the provincial nominee program and the federal Express Entry system. These candidates benefit from an enhanced nomination, which can significantly increase their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score at the federal level and improve their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.
The MPNP continues to be a key driver of skilled immigration to Manitoba, allowing the province to strategically select candidates who are most likely to succeed in the local economy and contribute to community development.
