WHAT IS EXPRESS ENTRY
Express Entry is a selection system used by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), allowing people to submit their applications under one of the federal economic programs.
It focuses on skilled workers to Immigrate to Canada. It is a competitive system, and one of the fastest routes to gain Permanent Residence as the processing time is typically 6 months. Get to know more about the Express Entry system programs and make sure you are a qualified and a good ranking candidate.
This system manages the applications received for permanent residence under the Economic Class Category (Federal Skilled Workers, Federal Skilled Trades, Canadian Experience Class and specific streams for Provincial Nominee Programs).
Each category has different requirements; you need to make sure you meet them to apply. For Express Entry, you will be evaluated based on a Comprehensive Ranking System. You can score a maximum of 1,200 points. These points are allocated as follows:
For single applicants, it will be a maximum of 500 points. For applicants with a spouse or common-law partner, the points are divided between them. A maximum of 460 points will be for the principal applicant. The Spouse or Common-law partner will be assessed on a 40 point base, which eventually can lead to the 500 points maximum.
Once you have checked that you qualify for one of the categories, you can submit a Profile that will be introduced into a pool of participants. It has to be a complete application.
All of the participants are now waiting to be selected. Once you are in the pool, you have 1 (one) year to be chosen, if you were not selected, you would have to submit your profile again, and for this reason, it is better to know if we are just eligible or if we do have chances of being selected.
Selection is based on your point ranking, and points matter! You are competing with very qualified professionals. That is why it is essential for you to prepare yourself ahead, to meet all the requirements. Time is of the essence. Get to know your opportunities through a thorough assessment. Many people meet the minimum requirements, but that does not mean your score is competitive enough for the Express Entry System.
If you are a very well ranked candidate, you will be invited from the pool of participants; this means you will be Invited to Apply for permanent residence as a skilled immigrant.
IRCC is continuously updating the scores and the number of Invitations that are issued. There are usually between 1 to 2 rounds of invitations per month.
