PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS PROGRAM STARTS ISSUING INVITATIONS

Starting May 21, 2024, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is issuing invitations to sponsors for the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP). This initiative aims to approve 20,500 applications for permanent residence, allowing Canadian citizens and permanent residents to bring their parents and grandparents to Canada.

Eligibility criteria for this program are specific. To qualify, potential sponsors must have completed an Interest to Sponsor form on IRCC's website in 2020 but did not receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) between 2020 and 2023. Additionally, sponsors must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

  • Be 18 years or older.

  • Reside in Canada.

  • Exceed the minimum necessary income level.

  • Sign an undertaking to financially support the sponsored individuals for 20 years.

This program provides a significant opportunity for families to reunite and build their lives together in Canada, emphasizing the country's commitment to family reunification.
