NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR ANNOUNCED FUNDING TO SUPPORT INTERNATIONALLY TRAINED NURSES

On June 22, 2023, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador announced $260,000 to help International Educated nurses work in Newfoundland and Labrador. The funding will help nursing regulators by implementing a call-answering service contract, creating a Registration Support Assistant position, and providing an incentive program through NLHS. This is in line with recent amendments to the Registered Nurses Regulations, which will streamline registered nurses' registration and licensing process and make it easier for nurses educated outside the province to work in Newfoundland and Labrador. The funding also aligns with Health Accord Newfoundland and Labrador recommendations to improve the recruitment and retention of healthcare professionals.
