NEW UPDATE FOR THE FRANCOPHONE MOBILITY PROGRAM
On June 15, 2023, the Canadian government expanded the Francophone Mobility Program for two years. This program allows Canadian employers to offer jobs to eligible candidates with a moderate command of French for most National Occupation Classification jobs, excluding primary agriculture. Initially reserved for highly skilled French-speaking temporary foreign workers, this program now offers more French-speaking immigrants the opportunity to gain Canadian work experience and potentially qualify for permanent residence. The French language proficiency criteria were also updated for all foreign nationals applying for a work permit under the program. Applicants must now provide documentary evidence of their language proficiency, such as a French evaluation test or a diploma from a French-language institution.
To be eligible, applicants must prove they have speaking and listening skills equivalent to a Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) / Niveaux de competence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) level 5 or higher. Candidates who meet all requirements of section R200 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR) will help increase the competitiveness of Canada’s academic institutions or economy.
