MANITOBA ISSUED OVER 600 INVITATIONS UNDER THE MPNP

Manitoba, a province known for its welcoming approach to immigrants, has yet again demonstrated its commitment to attracting skilled workers and international students through its Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). On August 10, 2023, Manitoba held its latest invitation round, inviting a total of 615 candidates to apply for provincial nomination across various streams. This draw marks a significant step forward in Manitoba's efforts to address labor market demands and boost its economic growth.

Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream Takes the Lead

In the recent draw, Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) focused on the Skilled Workers in Manitoba (SWM) stream, a pathway designed to attract individuals who are already working in the province and contributing to its labor market. A notable feature of this draw was the occupation-specific candidate selection, which showcased Manitoba's strategic approach to addressing specific labor needs.

A total of 249 candidates who scored 605 points and above were invited to apply under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream. This selection criterion underlines Manitoba's dedication to targeting highly skilled individuals who can seamlessly integrate into the provincial workforce, thereby making valuable contributions to the local economy.

Competitive Draws in the Regular SWM and Skilled Workers Overseas Streams

In addition to the occupation-specific selection, Manitoba issued 279 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) in the regular Skilled Workers in Manitoba (SWM) draw. Notably, the minimum score required for an LAA in this category was 647 points, reflecting a reduction of two points from the previous draw. This adjustment is indicative of Manitoba's adaptive approach to ensuring that the best-suited candidates are given the opportunity to apply for provincial nomination.

The Skilled Workers Overseas (SWO) stream also witnessed a competitive draw, with Manitoba issuing 40 LAAs to candidates invited under the Strategic Recruitment Initiative. The minimum score for this category stood at 708 points, signaling a reduction of nine points from the previous draw. Such adjustments in the minimum score requirements reflect Manitoba's commitment to refining its selection process to attract skilled workers from around the world.

Promoting International Education and Express Entry Candidates

Recognizing the importance of international education and its role in cultivating a diverse and skilled workforce, Manitoba issued 47 invitations in the International Education Stream. This pathway encourages international students who have completed their studies in Manitoba to transition to permanent residency, further contributing to the province's cultural and economic vibrancy.

Furthermore, Manitoba's engagement with the federal Express Entry system is evident as it issued LAAs to 43 Express Entry candidates in this draw. This integration with the broader Canadian immigration framework allows Manitoba to attract candidates who have already been assessed for their potential to thrive in the Canadian labor market.

A Year of Success for MPNP

The year 2023 has been a notable success for the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program, with a total of 9,678 candidates receiving invitations to apply for provincial nomination. Of these, 2,509 candidates were invited through the Express Entry stream, highlighting Manitoba's collaboration with the federal government's immigration initiatives.

As Manitoba continues to prioritize the attraction of skilled workers and international graduates, its commitment to strategic candidate selection and responsive adjustments in draw criteria demonstrate its proactive approach to meeting labor market demands and promoting economic growth.

Manitoba's recent invitation round under the MPNP exemplifies the province's dedication to attracting individuals who can make immediate and meaningful contributions to its workforce and society. By inviting over 600 candidates across multiple streams, Manitoba is shaping its future as a diverse, dynamic, and thriving province that remains open to the world's talent.
