IRCC TO RAISE PERMANENT RESIDENCE FEES ON APRIL 30, 2024

On April 11, 2024, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) made an announcement that is bound to impact aspiring immigrants: an increase in fees for all permanent residence applications. This update is part of a regular adjustment process, occurring every two years, aimed at managing the escalating costs associated with program administration and service delivery, as well as keeping pace with inflation. Effective April 30, 2024, several fee adjustments will take effect.

The right of Permanent Residence fee will see an increase from $515 to $575 for both the principal applicant and their spouse. Fees for the Provincial Nominee Program and most economic immigration classes will also rise, from $850 to $950. Furthermore, the Live-in Caregiver Program and caregiver pilots are not exempt, with their fees increasing from $570 to $635. For those aspiring entrepreneurs looking to invest and establish themselves in Canada, the business category fee will rise from $1,625 to $1,810.

The adjustments extend to family reunification fees as well. The sponsorship fee will see an increase from $75 to $85, while the principal applicant fee will climb from $490 to $545. These changes underscore the necessity for potential immigrants to stay informed about evolving regulations and costs within the immigration process.
