ALBERTA ANNOUNCED A NEW WORKER STREAM EXPRESSION OF INTEREST SYSTEM

The Government of Alberta has officially announced a key update to its immigration process, which will come into effect on September 30, 2024. The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) will be implementing a new Worker Expression of Interest (EOI) system for all of its worker streams.

Under this updated system, candidates interested in immigrating to Alberta will be required to submit an online Expression of Interest form. Once submitted, each candidate's profile will be scored and ranked using a points grid, considering various factors such as work experience, education, and adaptability.

The Alberta government will conduct periodic draws from the pool of submitted EOIs, inviting top-ranked candidates to apply for provincial nomination. The selection process will be based on the candidate's EOI score, current provincial labour market demands, and the number of available nomination spaces.

This new system aims to streamline the process, aligning Alberta's immigration selection with its workforce needs while offering a more transparent and merit-based pathway for prospective immigrants.
